Every year, we welcome over 3,000 international students from 40 countries who join us to study our pathway programs before starting university.

At UNSW College, we are committed not only to supporting our students academically but also to fostering their professional development. Our programs help students bridge the gap in their academic skills before starting university, and they provide opportunities to develop skills that will benefit their professional careers in the long run.

Here are some ways we support students in their academic and career growth:

English language proficiency

It's important for international students to achieve the English language level needed for their chosen degree. Our Academic English courses are here to help, whether you're getting ready to apply to university or have received a conditional offer and need to meet the language requirements.

Our courses, along with Mentor AI, empower students to navigate the challenges of university with confidence, setting them on the right path for their career development journey. We offer Mentor AI specifically for UNSW College students in our English language programs, providing extended speaking practice and feedback on your speaking skills, ensuring you feel prepared and supported every step of the way.

Foundation Studies programs

Our Foundation Studies programs are a great choice for those who have completed high school and need support transitioning to higher education. These programs will help you get from where you are now to where you need to be to access the program you want to study.

Our Foundation Studies programs are tailored to you and move at a pace that suits your needs, whether you need to focus on your English language proficiency or academic skills specific to your chosen career path.

The content you will study in your program has been developed in close consultation with each faculty at UNSW. This ensures that you will be well-prepared for your degree.

Students who successfully complete their Foundation Studies programs will be guaranteed entry into their chosen degree program if they fulfill all entry criteria.

Our Foundation Studies programs include:

Diploma programs

If you just missed out on direct entry into your UNSW degree program, our Diploma programs will keep your plans on track without adding extra time to your study journey.

Your Diploma course will run for 12 months, with content equivalent to a first-year degree, but with extra attention and support to build your confidence. Once you’ve successfully graduated, you will fast track into the second year of your degree program at UNSW.

We offer Diplomas in:

Pre-Masters Programs

If you've completed a relevant undergraduate degree but haven't yet qualified for a UNSW master’s course, our Pre-Master's program can help you secure your entry into your chosen postgraduate degree.

Designed to provide you with the additional support you need, including improving your English language proficiency, this program will help you meet the entry requirements. You will also have the opportunity to enhance your critical thinking, academic writing, project management, research, and communication skills.

We offer Pre-Masters programs in:
