Mastering the English language is an important step for any international student. It’s not just about fulfilling a requirement at an English-speaking university but also about being able to confidently express your ideas, engage in academic discussions, and understand course materials.
Additionally, your English skills can support the social side of your life, helping you make new friends and broaden your experiences while studying and living in a new country.
At UNSW College, we recognise the importance that English language proficiency plays in students' academic and personal lives. This is why we have created our Academic English courses as part of our pathway programs. Our courses are designed not only to meet university entry requirements but also to ensure that you thrive in your chosen field of study, in your social life as a student, and more.
Why is English language proficiency important?
Fluency in English is key to thriving in a university setting. It not only helps with effective communication but also boosts academic success, critical thinking, and social integration. Understanding how important language skills are, we offer the UEEC (University English Entry Course) for international students who have received a conditional offer but need to improve their English.
We've had great success in helping international students enhance their language skills, with 90 percent of those who complete the UEEC moving on to diploma, bachelor’s and master's programs at UNSW.
What is the UEEC?
The UEEC (University English Entry Course) is a tailored program that addresses the unique needs of students aiming to meet the English entry requirements for UNSW Sydney.
